Working for a World that Doesn't Deserve You

Hebrews 6:10

For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed

toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

NLT For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how

you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.

This verse speaks such encouragement to me! God appreciates us. He will not forget
when you show your love to him by caring for other believers. And I don’t believe this is
limited to only loving those you know to be believers.

Matthew 25:40 says . . . .Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my

brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Matthew 5:44 - 48 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you,

do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute

you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to

rise  on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love

them which love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the publicans the same? And if ye

salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? Do not even the publicans so?

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your father which is in heaven is perfect.

God is calling you to perfection. This is not Christianity 101. I think this is very hard. But,

those people that are wrong to you are exactly the people he calls us to pray for and to do

good to. Do they curse you? Do you consider them your enemies?

These are the people you are supposed to do good to and pray for.

Are you unappreciated? It is wrong for you to be treated this way. God calls it unrighteous

(Hebrews 6:10) and he will never treat you that way. He appreciates you. So, you need to

do the things you do for him, knowing that your work does not go unnoticed or

unappreciated - not by him.

Colossians 3:23

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

If you do things with this attitude, It doesn’t matter if you are appreciated because they are

not your rewarder anyway. Hebrews 11:6 says that he rewards them that diligently seek him.

And I believe that anything you do in your faithfulness - especially doing hard or thankless

jobs - is part of diligently seeking him.

Prayer: Heavenly father, you say in Matthew 6 verse 4 that the things that we do in secret

you will reward openly. I pray that we will live that hope that you are true to your word. We may

feel unappreciated by people but you appreciate us. You love us. You give us strength to keep

on going. Help us do all we do for you and with the right attitude. Put your attitude in us and

remind us to pray for those who are hurting us. Show us how to be good to them and to be

more like you. In Jesus' name, Amen.
