Complaint Free World: Day 6

Proverbs 24:16 KJV
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

"Success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm." Winston Churchill

"Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance." Samuel Johnson

". . . I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship." Louisa May Alcott

I am starting this post with some motivating quotes because I am going to need to stay motivated to complete this challenge. It will definitely take persistence. I will find myself complaining way too much before I get to where I am not complaining.

I need to remember why I am doing this:
1. It is clearly said in the bible and I want to be a doer of the word and not just a hearer.

2. Complaining and complaining about complaining has been a negative force in my relationship with my husband. He spends so much time working I want to spend our precious time together enjoying each other and not complaining to each other.

3. I want to be a good example to my children and have a positive attitude.

Honestly, it is just the opposite. They are so good at looking at the bright side so they are a good example for me. For instance, yesterday, we were doing our morning chores. I asked the girls to water the plants. Laura had a little plant and it wasn't doing so hot. It pretty much had died. She pulled out the dead leaves and stem and said "The roots are still alive that is good news." I was so impressed by her positive attitude.

How I did Day 5:
I noticed two complaints yesterday. I complained that the girls needed to organize the closet. I could have politely requested it or said something like "Let's organize the closet." But, no, I pretty much whined "You guys keep throwing things in here and making a mess." Also, I corrected Kayla on being mean to Laura in a "complainy" fashion.

I have not gone a whole day without complaining yet. I think if I were not journaling and realizing it has not been that many days, I would be tempted to quit already. But, I am determined this time.
