Something Different

Lord, by your grace,
I come before you.
You have promised
To be my God
And I adore you.
Trusting in your ways,
Here and now,
Take all my days.

This world, both deaf and dumb,
Yet full of noise,
Distracts to make me numb,
To your small voice.

I pray for my family,
Help them see.
I pray for your church,
For all your sheep.

Not, to this world, conformed.
But, thanks to the word, transformed.

Renew our minds,
And help us see,
The world is not
who it pretends to be.

Our treasures here are not eternal.
Won’t compromise for what’s infernal!

Take us, keep us,
Precious in your hands.
Yet, battered, beaten
By the world's demands.

You know our hurt
And see our pain.
But none of it
Has been in vain.

Not one tear falls
Without your notice.
You know our heart
You know our motives.

As we are called by your name,
This is our story.
And we know there is no shame,
This is our glory!

I won't be moved
By the confusion,
The backwards thinking,
Mass illusion.

By your love
We are changed
To something different,
Something strange,
To love and serve as we are called,
Reflecting light and being salt.
Evil, by good, is overcome
Soldiers in a war already won.
