His Patience

In his patience he waited on me
While I ignored him and pushed him out.
I wanted to do things just my way
And this gave me reason to my doubt.

But a life without God is painful;
I was a child lost inside this world.
In a maze full of uncertainty,
This world is dangerous, callous, cold.

So I lived my life without my Lord;
But he shamelessly persisted.
When I was not even worth having,
What I needed I resisted.

In this battle, my surrender,
Has been my biggest win in life.
I found his mercy for weakness;
I found his peace replaces strife.

Sacrifice is natural in love,
In patience comes forbearing
From the punishment so well deserved;
His mercy comes with caring.

And this mercy that I love so much
Is also my frustration.
Because sin now seems to run this world
And runs rampant in our nation.

But, Lord, you want none to perish,
We know you’re willing to forgive
Lord, you are so longsuffering,
And we all take but do we give?
