Miss no single opportunity . . .

Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by a kindly word; always doing the smallest right and doing it all for love.
St. Therese of Lisieux

I loved this quote since the moment I first read it. It reminds me that every encounter with another person is an opportunity. An opportunity to love. An opportunity to be a friend or a listening ear. Or, even just to smile and in just a little way let other’s know - I don’t know what you are going through but everything is going to be all right.

Sometimes, I think, we only consider the big things. “If I won the lottery, I would make a difference.”  “When I retire, I am going to volunteer.” But even if you have little time or little money, you can make a difference with what you have. And that’s amazing!

St. Therese of Lisieux was born In France January 1873. She died just 24 years later. Yet,
she eagerly gave her life to the Lord and made a difference with the life she did have.

I think if we gave of ourselves in small ways but consistently and regularly, seeing each time as an opportunity, maybe it would make more of a difference than only waiting for the big and dramatic.
