Interruptions

The great thing, if one can, is to stop regarding all the unpleasant things as interruptions of one’s ‘own’ or ‘real’ life. The truth is of course that what one calls the interruptions are precisely one’s real life - the life God is sending one day by day.
-  C.S. Lewis

It happens all the time doesn’t it? We make our plan or have a picture of how we want our day to go. And maybe someone needs a hand out at the gas station. Or, someone is stuck on the side of the road with car problems. And, yes, maybe we could do something to help them - but we don’t have time.

Thoughts of the Parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke chapter 10 come to mind. We can ignore or even walk on the other side of the road. We can say to ourselves that we didn’t see anything - or anyone that could use our help.

But the truth is God is watching. And we are not fooling anyone.

I know we can’t save the world on our own. And it is good to be on our way to take care of our responsibilities. But, I pray that God will open our eyes to know the difference between interruptions/distractions and opportunities to be his hands and feet. Lord, I pray that when it is you sending us to go that we, your sheep, will know your voice and be obedient to your call.
