Challenge Yourself

I think it is good for us, from time to time, to challenge ourselves. To step out of our comfort zones. To do things that we would not naturally do.
Maybe it is training for a marathon. Maybe it is trying a plant based diet for a few weeks. Maybe it is writing and posting on your blog thirty days in a row.
I have challenged myself to write and post on my blog for thirty days in a row. Today is day 19.
Most people I know are very busy and I cannot say that I have a lot of “spare” time in my day. To try to accomplish this goal I have had a few simple strategies.
  1. Making it a priority. I know there are so many worthy goals out there but there is only so much we can focus on  at one time. Setting something as a top priority, to me, means that I will make sure that it will take precedence over other things.
  2. Setting a timer. I am thinking of Parkinson’s law again. If I allow this to take all day it will. But, if I set a time limit, the inner critic inside my head cannot fuss all day over it. When the time is up. It is up.
  3. Do it early. This is not something I am doing today but it is wonderful to accomplish your goals early in the morning. People are less likely to need you early morning and there is a peace about the morning that I love.
  4. Set a deadline. For this challenge it was daily. I am not a fan of procrastinating tasks with a deadline. I feel it looming over me all day. I would rather get it done and go about the rest of my day knowing it is taken care of.
Well, my time is up for today. And that’s all I got. I hope I have inspired you to challenge yourself to do something out of your comfort zone.
