I can be content in every and any situation.

Last year I learned about speaking power thoughts from Joyce Meyer's book Power Thoughts: 12 Strategies to Win the Battle of the Mind. This is definitely a powerful thought: I can be content in every and any situation. I am not sure if it is worded the same as the book as I have added to them and transformed them with time. I think of Philippians 4 where Paul says that he can be abased or abound. He has learned in whatever state he is in to be content.

I read about Corrie Ten Boom in the book The Hiding Place this last year. Her story was a powerful one and I recommend it as it is a good read. Corrie and her sister Betsie end up in a concentration camp for hiding Jewish people in their homes. One of the things that struck me was Betsie's contentment. She was sick and had little food. Their living area was covered in fleas. The guards were cruel . . . I could go on and on about why their situation was terrible. But Betsie saw those around her. They were sick. They had lost their loved ones. They had broken hearts and lashed out at each other. She found purpose, contentment in giving hope and peace to others through the love of Christ. She wished to be in no other place than the center of God's will. We can do that! We can love others and minister in our situations! Her Jesus is the same as ours!

If we remember that out purpose is to love God and love others, we can show people that we don't need to fall apart in difficult circumstances because our hope is not in the external but the eternal. When we find ourselves blessed and with excess we can pray to God for wisdom to steward it and possibly bless someone else and when we are in want God can show us other ways to be a blessing.

As I write this I realize, we find contentment, fulfillment, in our lives as we find purpose in our lives. Find God's purpose in your life and follow it. Follow God's plan and don't become discouraged in your work because it is for the Lord.

Work as unto the Lord and not unto man. Offer your work unto the Lord and do it for his purposes. If you don't feel you are doing what God wants you to do with your life - fix it. Life is too short. Remember, saying "later" might just be saying "No". You don't know how long you will live! Be blessed and find contentment and purpose in your life in 2018.
