Being Grateful : Complaint Free World Day 9

Psalm 34:1 KJV
I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

In trying to avoid complaining, I have been thinking a lot about the need to be grateful. There are so many things to be grateful for. I am grateful for the beautiful people in my life. I am grateful for my husband and kids. I am grateful for my sister and mother and father. I am grateful for food. I am grateful for shelter. I am grateful for the beauty of nature. I am grateful for a good book. I am grateful for silly things my kids say. I am grateful for forgiveness. I am grateful for the ability to forgive. I am so grateful.

I truly feel that I am spoiled in so many ways. I am not sure why God has been so good to me. But, truly, when faced with so much that I have to be grateful for it becomes apparent that it is unfair for me to find any thing to complain about. There are so many reasons people do complain, and I do not expect to exhaustively list them, but I believe sometimes it is for attention or pity. Sometimes we wear our complaints as a badge of honor - "look at how difficult things are for me."  Sometimes we use our complaints as an excuse for our inactivity. I have found myself complaining because I want help and don't have the humility or eloquence to ask for it. Sometimes we get sucked into the complaints of others and the vicious cycle continues.

Like I said, there are many reasons people complain but when faced with the reality that God has truly blessed us abundantly it is unfair for us to have a complaining spirit. Thankfully, God loves me, us, even when that is the type of attitude we choose to have. Which gives us even more to be grateful for.

How I did day 7:
I had a complaint free day!
